Episode 6 -Led Zeppelin Live In Seattle 1975 – Deus Ex Machina by Mark Donahue

We take a look at a recent bootleg release of a soundboard recording from the legendary Led Zeppelin show, in Seattle, on 3/21/75, which came out over the summer. This is an excellent recording of a stellar show. I go over a little of the background of the release, and listen to a few tracks. Fun fun fun.

DTP506 – Charlotte de Witte – Datatransmission by Data Transmission

For all the emphasis on good times and euphoria in clubland there’s always been a dark side to electronic music, a side that 23 year old DJ/producer and one of Belgium’s most exciting new talents Charlotte de Witte has readily embraced.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

I can’t find a better way to bring this message to the world than the one and only John “Skippy” Lehmkuhl (checked this twice to write no mistakes 🙂 ), who – just like me – shares an interest in music and photography. Check out his cheerful video and have a nice day!

Led Zeppelin Found Not Guilty in ‘Stairway to Heaven’ Case

sth-trialAs expected by all intelligent people, British Legends Led Zeppelin “Stairway to Heaven” is not a copy of “Taurus” by American Sixties rock band Spirit. This decision was made by an eight-person Californian jury on Thursday June 23th 2016.

“Stairway to heaven” is a beacon from the past for generations to come: a landmark in music history.

“Taurus” is a very nice instrumental on Spirit’s self-titled debut album.

During the trial music experts made clear what every one can hear: the beginning of both songs is just a chromatic descending arpeggiated scale that skips the E note. This is  a common musical element and more importantly is in the public domain. The defense argued that it has been used by many groups and composers, e.g. The Beatles and Mary Poppins. Listen in Colours : GREEN

Dive into your CD collection and pick some with the same basic sleeve colour. This is exactly what I did recently, and it brought back some forgotten gems.

“When you see the sun” by The Jason Bonham Band versus Motörhead’s “Overnight Sensation” (not to be confused with “Over-Nite Sensation” from that other guy …).

Jason Bonham is one of rock’s most noticable power-drummer, just like his father. This album showcases the talent of both, being a collection of original songs mostly written by Jason and co-producer Marti Frederiksen, latter well known as lead vocalist for the fictitious band Stillwater in the movie “Almost Famous”.
